In this cold spell I was dreading having to try to get into my new big cat as I remember the trials and tribulations our son had trying to get into his BMW Z4 last year.

Until…….I discovered that wonderful thing called an app!

Despite some initial teething problems getting it to connect to my car and then recognising my account due to the previous guy’s account still linked it’s working perfectly now.

So, as you experienced Jag owners well know, there’s a little thing called remote start and all I say is that it’s BRILLIANT!

For the last few mornings I’ve started the car from the comfort of my house and when I’ve gone outside to go to work it’s been totally defrosted and toasty warm inside.

So, my thanks to everyone who helped get this magic little device working as it’s worth every penny of that £40 annual cost just for that feature alone👍👍👍.

Yeah, I use that a lot. There a couple of slightly irritating (to me) quirks, if you open the boot before unlocking a door the engine stops, and recently I found it won't remote start if my battery is low - annoying since the first thing the car tells you when you get in is "battery low start engine". I tried to but you wouldn't do it!

Lucky you, with envy, as this feature is not allowed here on the continent 😭.
If any fellow has a tip for making it work here (apart from moving to the other side of the pond), would be much appreciated.

I used to use it on my first F type before my daily commute in the winter. It's not a common feature, even today, although I believe most EVs have it.

It works great in the summer too, when the car has been parked in full sunshine all day. How civilised. Even has a very nice audible feature, so you can hear it when you turn it on, assuming you're within a couple of hundred yards 😉.

I might give it a go again but I don't know how to unlink the former owner's account. Any guidance on this and the link to download the app from Google Play would be much appreciated.

You’ll need to contact Jag customer service, send proof of ownership etc and they’ll be able to do it.

Or if you are near a dealer, take your V5C and driving licence as proof and they'll delete the previous owner for you.

You might also need to get an email from Jaguar, containing a link to set up the subscription £40 (or £60 for 2 years). It's usually the salespeople at the dealers who deal with this and they are usually available at weekends too.

Search for the app on Apple Apps or the Google Play Store. It's called Jaguar Remote now.

Such a shame you can't switch on heated seats and steering wheel from the app. Definitely an oversight in functionality.

That's one of the beneffits of having physical switches to operate them - it can only be done digitally with your fingers! I hated having to operate the seat heaters through the touchscreen in my previous XKR.

But 5 minutes of remote start gets the cabin nice and warm anyway, then switch on the seats and steering wheel as you get in (after hitting the brake, of course!).
