I was sooo tempted to pull fuse 15 after all of these posts about it
so I did

when i started the car - it was loud, then the valves shut and wouldnt re-open, no matter what (stop / start, push button, put into dynamic - nothing but q fairly quiet engine noise)

put fuse 15 back - all returned to normal

any ideas?

(It does have the back box Mod Stock modified and new valves from them - if that makes a difference)

Went for a Sunday afternoon drive down to Eastbourne to have some fun on the roads near Birling Gap.

Looks like a young lad in a Fiesta was having too much fun and somehow launched his car off the road and into a bush. This was immediately after a bend (not a sharp one, mind) so my guess is he attempted to take it at WOT and binned it because he didn't consider a FWD car might not be able to negotiate the bend too well.

In that moment, I could practically see the young-driver insurance rates skyrocketing live 😂

I recall reading that the newer models "remember" the valve position when the fuse is removed and maintain it, so if you want the valves open all the time you have to remove the fuse when they're open. If your valves were closed when you removed the fuse that would appear to be a confirming instance of that theory - try it when the valves are open and prove me wrong!

Yes, I don't know if my20 have the electronic valves so you might have to check but I knew that my my21 does and when fuse is removed the valve stays in the position it was in when you removed it. And apparently the valve is open when the car is off so I didn't have to try removing it whilst driving at above 3500rpm! :D

Though on the us site someone has created a remote "claws out" mode so you can remotely change the behaviour, I might have to investigate that.

Just put it in dynamic mode? In mine the switch won't open the valves until about 1500 rpm.

If I pull fuse 15 on my p300 it goes into limp mode although pops and bangs more.

I cleaned and sealed the seats I got from the breakers

Drove it to a funeral. Nice sunny drive though. Hood up though as 4 degrees C. The car is definitely more economical than my RSQ3 which is a surprise.

Having a day with dry roads and some sunrays so took it out for a good blast on some nice countryside twisties. 3 degrees and part worn winter Pirelli Sottozeros so clearly not as grippy as with my summer Michelins but I was again reminded about how safe these cars are even when driven aggressively in such conditions with RWD. Even in dynamic mode with its reduced DSC the systems nicely step in before the back end gets out of hand.
