Installed Torque Pro and the custom PIDs to enable me to monitor oil temp etc live.

Unfortunately it confirmed what I suspected, the traffic lights at the start of the dual carriageway close to my house is too close for the engine to be warm enough to test my 0-60 when I go out for a run

Will have to decide a new route

I used to run TorquePro sometimes in my previous two Jags but haven't tried it in the F-Type yet. Did you disconnect the battery afterwards to put the OBD port to sleep properly?

I obviously haven't checked the oil temp myself yet but based on what I've seen from others who have, 12-15 minutes of driving is the rule of thumb before giving it the beans.

I did a short errand so not yet sure how long it takes to get to temp, I'm guessing 10 mins for 80c and maybe 15 for 90c (after a few stops it got to just above 90), but will see.

I didn't disconnect battery but I did "quit" from torque pro then removed the obd2 bluetooth thingy. I later checked the warning triangle was off and all looked good. I've used torque lite last week and used the quit and it seems to exit properly - battery was then fine since.

On my previous car, if you just close the app instead of "quitting" then the app continues to run in the background, so I'm thinking that is the key thing.

And cleaned out loads of leaves from what I assume is the auxiliary radiator - hadn't realised they were there till doing the number plate.
Nice! The best colour! :D

Interesting. I've also read that people have avoided battery drain issues with code readers in the F-Type by properly shutting off the reader before disconnecting it from the port. Maybe the OBD port issue isn't such a big issue after all.

Someone posted here recently the MOT guideline for testing centres instructing technicians not to plug into the OBD reader to test for emissions. The document features a a justification from Jaguar engineers that the on-board computer might not switch off following the connection with a 3rd party reader. So there's a real issue but we just don't know which OBD readers the F-type computer likes to hook up with.

US owners seem to have had a lot of issues with it (smog tests), but I recall a post from someone who said a software update apparently fixed it. Can't remember details, if indeed any were included.

What have I done to my F-Type today?…….Not taken it out in this nasty winter weather! Left it in the garage under the dust cover after shining it to perfection on Saturday.

Took it for a spin after 10 days working from home while recovering from a short illness. I needed to hear its growl after all that we've been through this week with the rebranding....
