Good evening,

I've received an e-mail notification from HERE that "the navigation subscription for your InControl Touch Pro expires soon!".

I thought this was wrong as logging into InControl, I can see that "CONNECTED NAVIGATION PRO Expires: 27/01/2025". I contacted Jag web chat and they said I needed to contact HERE customer services. I called them and then logged a case via e-mail.

HERE have just come back saying my subscription with them is only 3 years and the Connected Navigation Pro from Jaguar is totally separate.

Is it right that you have to have 2 separate subscriptions to both Jaguar Connected Navigation Pro and HERE? Also, there's conflicting information about who provides the real time traffic as Jaguar says I've got it until 2025 and HERE are saying I lose it (as well as the map updates).

Seems like a very convoluted system/process! :?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Yes, confusingly enough that's correct - there are two separate subscriptions and the live traffic only works with an active HERE subscription which also includes map updates.

The HERE one is just such a waste of money. The statement about "wide range of important services" always made me smile. The monthly map updates are pretty pointless and the only remotely useful service is the live traffic info. I think it's also supposed to include petrol prices and something else which I never found useful.

Thank you for restoring my sanity. It does raise the question of how Jaguar can charge and market real time services in their subscription at a cost when in order to make them work, you need a 3rd party subscription.

I'll keep my money in my pocket and see if I miss anything.

Thanks for the swift reply.

Yes it's all rather odd especially in this day and age of free live traffic data including updates about incidents, police presence, speed cameras etc via Google Maps and Waze. By "real time services" Jaguar maybe mean their other online features like the remote access to the car.

My HERE subscription is also about to expire and I won't prolong it. The only good thing is that you still get the live satellite image data even if you don't have any active HERE subscription. I find that much more useful than the live traffic data and monthly map updates.

I've never paid for a HERE subscription and my satnav seems to show live traffic data (I have it ticked in the navigation settings) as the roads change colour to indicate how heavy the traffic flows are. I bought my car at 1 year old and have never had any correspondence from HERE, just renewals of InControl services from Jaguar. All rather confusing!

Thanks. I'll see if I can notice any difference once it expires as I use the map layers for traffic currently.

Is there any other way to load new maps manually? My last car was really simple via the VAG maps portal and SD card (plus it was free!)

Haven't seen any other way for the ICTP system although I haven't really searched. It's all linked to the VIN and seemingly only available from HERE.

There might be a way with the older F-Types with the oldest system although I suspect maps for that system aren't updated any more. I once had an XF with that system and I remember there was a Ukranian chap on another forum selling map updates at a much better price than Jag dealers, but I think he worked for a dealer or had some inside connections.

I have just gone through the process of renewing my subscriptions. I received an email from Jaguar InControl inviting me to renew the InControl Subscriptions for "Remote" and "Secure Tracker" (no mention of "Connected Navigation Pro", which also shows as a subscription in the Jaguar Remote app). The "Remote" and "Secure Tracker" subscriptions have correctly updated to the new expiry date in November 2026 (I chose the 2 year InControl subscription renewal), but the "Connected Navigation Pro" subscription remains that it will expire this November. I have also renewed my "Maps and Services" via the separate Jaguar. Here navigation site and have downloaded and installed the most recent map to the car and the online traffic, intelligent routing, etc are there as well. I had an 'online chat' with Jaguar Customer Services - it seems that I have renewed all of the subscriptions which are available and needed to be renewed. I can only guess that maybe the "Connected Navigation Pro" feature in the InControl app is no longer necessary or available since Jaguar are partnered with Here.com for their Navigation services now?

Seems odd that there is still a "subscription service" showing about to expire soon, but it seems not to matter - I don't care though because everything seems to be working fine.......... and I have a Jaaaag!
