Just had discs and pads on the front, 2017 V6 non s. Should the tab on the springs go further underneath the caliper carrier? I'm sure they went further in before but obviously everything is new now, maybe that's why?

It'll be out further because you have new pads (dist from caliper to carrier is further as you have thicker pads).

As long as it;s straight (both ends out same amount) and the centre pin in correctly located its good.
