Adaptive Front Lighting ??
Hi. new member here and this is my first post. I am yet to be the proud owner of an F-type but seriously hoping to be very soon. I think it is a fabulous looking car! I am thinking of a P300 R-Dynamic a couple years old (yes I know, not pushing the boat out just yet!) and have a question re headlights. I have long been used to having auto dipping headlights (Mercedes) also known as high beam assist. Does the Jaguar specification 'Adaptive front lighting' include this. If not then which model would offer this?
From the iguide app, it says the adaptive front lighting changes the beam shape rather than switching main beam on or of (details below from the app).
Auto High Beam Assist looks like it is what you are after for switching main beam on/off. If the car doesn't have it then LR Retrofits can add it to the car (I was just looking at their website for what they offer). Price dependant on if mirror needs changing.
The AFS deactivates when high beam is selected, when dipped beam is not operating in AUTO mode, or when the vehicle’s transmission is in Park (P).
The AFS automatically adjusts the headlight beams to suit the vehicle’s speed and weather conditions, as follows:
Country mode: A standard headlight beam that operates at vehicle speeds between 48 and 110 km/h (30 to 70 mph).
City mode: A wider headlight beam that operates at vehicle speeds up to 48 km/h (30 mph).
Motorway mode: A raised headlight beam that operates at vehicle speeds above 110 km/h (70 mph).
Adverse weather mode: Operates when the wipers have been active for more than 2 minutes and the vehicle’s speed is below 64 km/h (40 mph).

Still looking for my coupe, so just here to learn - hopefully find mine soon

My car has this and yes, that is what its supposed to do but I've never noticed a difference. If you want Auto high beam you can get it activated if you know somebody with Pathfinder, the Jaguar software suite.
I had that, duel climate and adaptive dynamics activated.
