My 2022 F Type Coupe:
Newbe here, bought my 2 ltr coupe recently. She will be 3 years (4500 miles) old later this month so manufacturers warranty expires. I note the chrome trim around quarter light is comming adrift by where it meets the door. I gather this isnt a simple fix. Is this covered by manufacturers warranty ?
Im probably going for extended as its only had JLR services and its in on 16th for a pre extended warranty so wondering whether I can insist they sort chrome trim under current warranty.
Thanks for any input
Regards
Robin
chrome trim around quarter light loose
Yes, your manufacturer warranty will cover it but you had better get it viewed and confirmed by a JLR dealer before the warranty expires. The Jaguar extended warranty “does not” cover such items.RobinTR6 wrote: ↑Fri May 09, 2025 1:44 pm My 2022 F Type Coupe:

I recently fixed mine myself (out of manufacturer warranty and my Jag extended warranty doesn’t cover it and Jag dealership quoted me £££££ to replace the trims). It’s a fiddle and takes time to do and you have to be meticulous and also careful not to bend, buckle, warp or break the metal trim, but it cost me just a few quid in materials and about 3 hours of my time. Happy to talk you through exactly how I did it if you need.RobinTR6 wrote: ↑Fri May 09, 2025 1:44 pm My 2022 F Type Coupe:

Our black pack trim started to lift on the passengers side at 22 months old. It was fully replaced under the initial three year warranty period, so act quickly if still in warranty period.

Had mine replaced last year, within 3 months of new, but it is back to be done again next month. Apparently the technicians hate them!
Also, check the bonding in the boot gutter- mine getting attention at the same time as the quarterlight trim.

This issue is known to come back and I remember seeing cases where people had this trim part replaced multiple times and just got the same problem again after a while. There are some theories about this being due to some minor body flex in this area. Also, obviously whatever glue JLR and the dealers are using for that trim piece doesn't cut the mustard.
Depending on how (in)competent the staff of the dealer doing the replacement is, there's also a risk that they'll cock up other things in the process like the alignment of the rear quarter window or different seals.
That said I'd be in two minds about having that whole trim piece replaced instead of just fixing it myself like Doc did above. Seems like quite a few people fixed it themselves successfully. Since it's under warranty and if you trust the place that will do the job it's still probably worth it having it replaced but I'd keep an eye on that everything else is properly refitted.

good advice and thanks all. Ive had classics mostly so readily fixable myself, most recently a cream convertible MGA.
As the Jag is new (to me) and its only done 4500 miles I thought best use the warranty as is and am expecting to get the extended one too....just as a precaution till Im more familar with the car. Im hopeing that I wont be needing any warranty work post this too but Ill have to wait and see.
It was serviced by JLR last week and despite all the cuddles etc no one reported this trim issue so Im extra cautious now.
Ill report how well its been done and obvs if the fix lasts.
