I noticed that many of the high end cars, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Maserati, and Ferrari are fitting a Magnetic Charging connector on there cars as standard.
So as CTEK supply the cable with the correct mating connector all i had to find was the socket to mount on the Car.

This is called the Rosenburger Powersystem and the socket mounted on the Car is part number M2S111-3XX there are PDF technical data sheets on the internet. It is keyed so can only connect one way.
You can even buy the plug separately if you dont have a CTEK charger
I fitted the socket to the Plastic trim which holds the Number plate lights and also my reverse camera
The Socket has standard spade connectors on the back, and could also be soldered.
I ran some good quality flexible copper cable wrapped in black fabric tape down inside the tailgate through the rubber gaiters down to the battery.
I have the CTEK 3.8 Amp charger so added a 5 amp fuse to protect the cable.
The socket is 26 mm dia and 20 mm deep so just fitted with the connectors.

Now i can lock the car and keep the charger connected. Also if you forget about it and drive away the cable will disconnect without damage.

Thanks for posting this project with photos and part numbers.
It's very neat and a cool idea and one I may well copy when time permits.
Well done

That area on my car gets very dirty from the road (the joy of aero!), so if yours is the same you might need to give it a wipe to maintain good connectivity.

I have not noticed this area getting dirty as my reversing camera seems to be always clear, but not had much rain lately ! but will keep that in Mind

One thing i have added to the charging circuit is a relay so with no charger connected, the relay is open and the battery is not connected to the charging port. using a 10 amp diode, so the relay will only close when power comes from the charger. As soon as the charger is switched off the relay opens.
One of the reasons i added this, is if someone was feeling under the tailgate lip and touched both contacts, maybe they would get a small shock, and also as you suggest if water sprays up on the connection it cannot short out.

The MagCode’s have built in short circuit protection and is mentioned in the technical blurb so no need for your extra relay. You can also buy a cover for the port to help with keeping the contacts clean

I saw the covers were available but had not seen the blurb about the short circuit protection ? is this in the socket itself or in the CTEK cable ?
i only have the data sheet so maybe mentioned in a different document.
i had to import the socket to China as its not available here ( maybe it would be copied ?) but the price was around 29 Pounds, cheaper than i see on UK ebay. 87 pounds.
if you are looking to purchase i would look on the, RS online store or, Mouser.com
