Has anybody formed any view about whether this apparent quality control issue is isolated to lamps coming out in a specific time period....whether the issue has since been rectified by the supplier in more recent batches ?

To put it another way....has anybody been unfortunate enough to get the headlamp replaced only to suffer a further fail ?!

Yes, replacement lights also seem to fail and so far I haven't seen any info about that lights produced as of a certain date would last. In other forums and groups I've seen several cases of people having their lights replaced several times with the problem reoccurring.

So what's the answer...sell up and walk away from the FType and the Jaguar brand ?

Good question. I'd say live with it until there's a reasonably priced solution. Possibly always keep the headlights on to make it less obvious. Or change to a pre-faclift or 2nd facelift F-Type which doesn't have this issue.

134 posts in this thread alone and my dealer tells me that Jaguar are unaware of the problem.

To quote Steve Wright's Mr Angry, "It makes me seethe".

Jaguar are aware, there decision on the matter is below, however they are not going to do anything as they believe fair usage on cars now seven years old.

Whilst we do try to support with repairs outside the warranty period, this is not without limitations and taking into consideration your vehicle has passed its seventh anniversary, any manufacturing defect with the vehicle would have presented itself prior to now. I do appreciate that this was not the response that you had hoped for, however, it would be deemed that fair usage has been taken and, it would fall to you, as the owner of the vehicle, to cover the cost of this repair.

If you would like to escalate this, I would respectfully advise you contact The Motor Ombudsman who is the automotive dispute resolution body. They can be contacted on 0345 241 3008

Please be assured your concerns have been thoroughly reviewed and therefore this is the final position from Jaguar Land Rover.

The options available are:

I would not recommend this.
1) Join the UK Facebook group trying to progress this. However they have no legal representation and haven't contacted Ombudsman after months of complaining and discussing and accusing Jaguar of things online which will not help any case. I popped a few factual comments on there, exactly what I am posting here, and they blocked me!

If you have it.
2) If you have Jaguar extended warranty then it is fully covered. (If you have other warranty products then ask, tell them it is sudden electrical failure).

If you can wait.
3) Wait for someone to find the component that has failed, why and a repair procedure.

If you think you have a case
4) File your issue and claim with the Ombudsman (note there are lots of requirements you need to do, such as contact Jaguar, let Jaguar look at it and an independent garage, reports etc).

Last resort.
5) Pay for a replacement (or risk a second hand one)

If you are crazy.
6) Car insurance claim.

Patience.
7) Leave it until you decide on one of the above. It still passes an MOT, appears all testers don't even notice and only seen one appear on an MOT certificate and I believe that was because the owner told the garage about it pre MOT.

Brilliant summary simpleR. I also think that trying to squeeze Jaguar will lead nowhere.

NZ-400, some dealers may actually still be unaware but Jaguar certainly are very aware of it.

Take a look earlier in this thread. There are some pics. From close up from above a fully working one has more or less the same intensity all the way. A failed one often is only fully bright at the top.

Yeah I'd seen the ones at page 9 of this thread. But even there on the offside 'good one' the light distribution seem 'bitty' ....sort of on and off as you run down the line.

Is yours the same as the 'good' one in those photos ?

Having never thought about this previously I don't know what a new one looks like.....and maybe that offside one is on it's way out too ?
