Amen.
Help needed (potential newbie)!
Looks a nice example, what I did notice from looking at the photos of the centre console, it appears to not have the exhaust ( valve enhancement) button. I’m sorry but I don’t know how this affects the exhaust note without it. Guys on here will be able to help with that , but on my P300 it’s a must.

Wise words - thanks!X5x4x3 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 7:18 pm If you’re buying purely based on what will have best resale value imo you’ll usually end up in a car you don’t necessarily like/love and forever will be beating yourself up for not going for the the one that got you more excited. Cars aren’t investments and you’re bound to lose money on them so what I’d suggest is to leave the resale value aside, buy at a price you’re happy with and enjoy it, resale value is a problem for later!
You don't use dynamic mode? Or do you use the button to quieten down dynamic mode? I've never really seen the point of the switch as dynamic mode opens the valves and with that mode off leaves 'em shut until about 4000 rpm. What does the switch give you that the dynamic switch doesn't?Keith666 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 8:38 pm Looks a nice example, what I did notice from looking at the photos of the centre console, it appears to not have the exhaust ( valve enhancement) button. Yes I do use Dynamic mode, but in D with the active exhaust button pressed, driving around town it’s nice to have that deeper burble and more throaty exhaust note with the occasional pop, it’s not as orchestral as the V6 or V8, but it adds to the driving experience.

Pretty much the same spec as my car apart from the pano roof and my one is red. I would haggle it down abit or maybe get some warranty. I paid about 29k for a 2018 9k mile car. On my daily to London 30 miles each way about 20 motorway 10 city roads I average 28mpg which is a lot of average speed cameras and m25. I upgraded the stereo with RR / XJ speakers , sound deadened the doors and have performance 12 way seats to go in as those seats give me back ache after an hour or so.
As for the active exhaust I can’t really tell must difference with it pressed although from the outside you can I have been told although it’s not night and day

In mine, if I select dynamic mode the exhaust switch is automatically activated. If I then press the exhaust switch it closes the valves at low rpm. S and D have no effect on the exhaust valves in dynamic (apart from S potentially keeping the revs higher). Is it different in the later models?Keith666 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 3:07 pm Yes I do use Dynamic mode, but in D with the active exhaust button pressed, driving around town it’s nice to have that deeper burble and more throaty exhaust note with the occasional pop, it’s not as orchestral as the V6 or V8, but it adds to the driving experience.

I think the main advantage of the exhaust switch button is to be able to open up the exhaust in normal non dynamic mode. I only use dynamic mode when I'm out on a proper blast but usually want the extra exhaust burble also on other occasions. In everyday driving I usually run in D but 95% of the time with the exhaust valves open so mostly when I start the car I open the valves directly. Constant speed motorway runs (so not when on the autobahn ) are basically the only occasions when I prefer to keep the valves closed.

Morning, i think Major Tom has answered my reply to SCM for me . I don’t think there is any difference in the later models re active exhaust, just that in non dynamic mode, ie comfort/ normal I like to drive with the active exhaust button on.
Have a great weekend folks
