Dear all

I've been chatting to a main dealer about a 2020 model P380 AWD Chequered Flag Coupe in Carpathian Grey and Ebony leather. Registration is OY 69 WPZ. Vehicle has 19034 miles. Vehicle comes with a good spec, including pano roof, climate pack (heated /cooled seats, heated steering wheel and windscreen), and memory seats. It's up for £40,750.

I understand the car has had 3 keepers from new, and has had main dealer services at 5k , 12k and 17k miles, with the next one due in May this year. I note that the car passed MOTs with no advisories in Apr 23, May 24 and Dec 24.

Can anyone answer these questions:

- can anyone give me more details about the services carried out, and give a view about whether the right things were done at the right time, and details of any non-routine repairs?
- the dealer spoke about a 2 year / 21k service interval but I understand many here have their cars serviced yearly, even if the mileage is low. What is the consensus?
- since the car has only done 2k miles since its most recent service (last May), they don't intend to service it again, leaving me (if I were to buy) with a service 4 months after purchase. Thoughts?
- is the price reasonable, or what in the current climate might be a reasonable offer?
- anything else I should look out for? Know about the DRL issue...

Grateful in advance for any help.

Nick

Unless they changed something servicing should be annual or max every 16k. To get the full service history and info on what needs to be carried out when, get the car's VIN and check it here: https://osh.jaguar.com/

When it comes to things to look out for there should be a few threads about that on here, so you should be able to find some more info if you search.

Hi Nick,
Welcome and congratulations on a great choice for your next car.

It sounds like the salesman is confusing the service intervals with the four-cylinder 2ltr (Ingenium) engine. I think officially these can be serviced every two years.

The online service history shows the official schedule for this P380, which is annual/mileage based (which ever comes first).

It appears the 12-month service was missed, perhaps due to the 2020/21 lockdowns. Some would argue it's not a full service history. That could be used to haggle however - there are loads of very well maintained cars to choose from.

My gut about the price would be it's on the high end for a V6 with multiple owners. But if it's a very straight car in the spec you want it doesn't seem crazy, especially with main dealer reassurance.

Bear in mind you will be able to pick up a slightly newer V8 (P450) with similar mileage for around £40k, advantages of which include an extra 60-ish bhp and a more modern digital dash. You may prefer the V6 though, which is a cracking car and there's no wrong choice between the two.

Either way, happy hunting and hope you find your perfect F-Type.

Thanks for the advice. Does anyone know whether a main dealer is able to see what other work (outside of any routine service items) might have been done to the car, or whether they are generally willing to disclose it?

Have just put a deposit down and reserved this 2019 P380 AWD Chequered Flag in Caldera / Panjan Red: https://www.group1auto.co.uk/used-cars/ ... wd-347879/

Meets the full spec I was looking for, but interestingly it missed its 48month / 64k miles service in 2023 (VIN is SAJDA1AV1LCK68848). It appears to be an ex demo car, then one more owner. Interesting that this still meets the Approved criteria.

They are interestingly offering a 2 year warranty rather than 1 if I take out the minimum amount of finance (£10k). I am a cash buyer, but I'm told I can pay the balance off after one month, thereby gaining an extra year for the price of one month's interest (£328). And the warranty covers the DLR issue.

Any thoughts?

AFAIK you can pay the finance off as soon as you like. The one month delay probably means they get their commission. Paying it off earlier means they do not....

If you put the vin into the link Major Tom posted you can see on one tab the things they were meant to service and potentially missed.

Rear diff oil is a key thing at 4 years, ie the one they missed - that is known to cause wear, do they have evidence of that being done or will they do it for you now?

Thank you both. Yes, I mentioned that to them, and they have agreed to do the Rear Diff oil before I take over the car.

Sounds like you've struck a pretty good deal to be fair.
