A weird one. Ever since my F-Type was new to me a year ago, the automatic front parking sensor activation wasn’t working. A few months ago, I found it turned off in the parking sensors and camera settings, so of course I turned it on. I now know why the first owner turned it off:

From time to time (at least once every journey), at slow speeds, the front sensor suddenly inappropriately starts shouting “beeeeeeep” and the parking screen pops up on the touchscreen with red lit up on nearside front, as if you’re about to hit something (made me nearly poo myself the first time it happened!)

So annoying, so I too turned the feature back off again the same as the first owner had!

I had Jag dealership look at it under my extended warranty and they diagnosed faulty nearside front sensor and replaced it. But….that hasn’t resolved the issue. It seems to me like it’s a calibration issue with that corner of the car parking sensor set too sensitive?

Has anyone else had this? If so what’s the fix, if there is one?

Is there such a thing as parking sensors calibration, and if so where does it (Somerset or Devon or Bristol area ideally)?

Hi Doc

I too have this same issue, it's not a problem very often, but just sometimes it just pops up the PAS screen even when stationery, and shows a red bar, not always on the same sensor either, and yet the system works fine driving upto a wall, I usually assume its a dead (or live) fly on the senor, but happens too intermittently and often for that.

When I fixed the wiring in my RR parking sensors I used the iCarsoft3 to identify the fault, and there was a calibration section for the parking sensors distance, although I never used it as I hadn't changed the sensors. So there may well be some calibration available. I do mean to connect up to the Jag and have a look, but time never really allows me these days.

Hi. I had this. Couldn’t figure it out. My number plate was not stuck down enough on that side and so stuck out a bit. I stuck it down and the problem disappeared. It was seeing the edge of the number plate as an obstruction.

That's interesting.

I sometimes get the front parking sensor issue and have just checked my front number plate which sticks out a little bit on the end (more so on the UK offside). I'll stick it down and monitor the issue over the next few weeks to see if it makes any difference?

When activated, the front parking sensors will remain active as long as the vehicle's forward speed does not exceed 10 mph (16 km/h).

Thanks guys. I doubt my front reg plate is the issue on mine because it is a short plate.
I have however now found a local company who advertise sensor recalibration - I may contact them…..

(and they do 10% NHS discount! :D )

Yes, I doubt it too as the front parking sensors on your car are a lot further away from the short number plate (I’ve attached a pic of your car and another members to show the difference).

Hopefully the sensor recalibration will fix the issue.
