Looking at the CTEK book it shows maximum times for each of the 7 steps: 8 hours for 1 &2 (your battery must be very poorly for that, mine's never taken more than a couple of minutes!), 20 hours for step 3 (again that'll be worst case flat battery), 8 hours for step 4 and 3 minutes for step 5. Step 6 is Recondition (2 or 6 hours).

Wait for the green light at step 7 and let us know how long it took! :)

When charger with the CTEK can you close the boot on the cable?

Yes you can so long as you route the cable away from the lock mechanism

I charge mine on my drive with a 10A extension cable and have trapped the mains cable under the boot lid since 2018 without any ill-effects so far. CTEK do make a 10m extension lead which is a lot thinner than my mains cable so you can run the charger itself outside the car if you so wish.

Have been using a CTEK on the F-Type for the past six years, and the battery has actually outlasted the CTEK, the first one would not switch modes anymore so could not activate the regen function. I use the extension cable into the boot with no problem:-

Morning all

Just a question on the CTEK charger I’ve plugged it in to do a recon charge. Do you have to leave it on to complete the charge in 1 go or can you turn it off and go back to the charging process the next day and will the charger pick up the charge where it left off or will the charge cycle start again?

I don’t want to leave it over night! I’m a bit paranoid about leaving it on over night?

If you switch it off it will start the regen again, I leave mine on all the time when the car is not being used no issues with this or with other battery maintainers I have used in the past as that’s what they are designed for.

When I charge mine (on my drive) I leave it on overnight. Nice and full of electrons in the morning! The CTEKs are designed to be left connected permanently, if you're inclined to store the car over the winter, or treat it as an occasional weekend fun car.
