I did some basic Photoshop to my car to give it a black pano roof.

It detracts. Definitely.

But as I said earlier, this isn't a right or wrong question. It depends if you value the light, airy feel more than the cleaner look of the body coloured roof, or vice versa. And for the several who feel the pano roof ADDS to the overall look (or at least doesn't diminish it), it's a win - win 😊

Playing devil’s advocate - perhaps you could rephrase the question…..

How many would spec a new F Type WITH BLACK leather interior, and NO pano roof ?
Me ;)

Going by the replies, I think its about 50 for, and 50 against.

I'm on the fence on this. I found my IRR car and bought it. It happened to have a panoramic roof but I'd have bought it if it didn't have one. On dull days I open the blind, on sunny summer days I close the blind. On IRR with black kit and wheels it looks fine, but I understand other colours might not look so good. Particularly if you keep looking down on it from a bedroom window :)

For me Pano Roof every time I like/need the light on dreary days and with tinted glass looks great and complements the black accents whatever the car colour.

I think the vast majority of coupes come with the pan roof. It’s one of the most requested & desirable options for potential owners.

But not to neglect. The pano roof adds extra weight :D :D :D

Weight is a good point. I wonder how much it actually adds. I've never seen any details around that.

The thing is also that nearly every decently specced car these days has some kind of pano roof and plain tin roofs have started feeling like halogens, steelies or no CarPlay spec wise. I can understand that e.g. an Alpine or spiced up Cayman doesn't have it for weight reasons but to me it would feel a bit odd spec wise not to have it in a high end semi GT car like the F-Type. If you want that cabin airiness and external pano roof looks of course, which understandably not everyone wants. :)

Couple more points worth mentioning is the long term reliability of pano roofs which are known for developing leaks due to sealants failing with all the vibration and twisting that a beloved F-type chassis endures unless it's a garage queen.

Another one could be the classic status further down the line. If we think the F-type is a future classic, I am yet to see a classic car with a pano roof as it's not generally appreciated from a car design perspective which takes into consideration the exterior design first and foremost.

And as DaddyDarren reminded us all, they're susceptible to spontaneous combustion, (especially if they have an auto box and partially removed Fuse 15)! 😂
