Evening all,

Has anyone upgraded the audio in their F-Type?

I only have the standard system so quite keen to improve that ASAP.
I don’t want to go mad spending thousands but would just like some higher quality speakers and maybe some sound deadening installed.

Is this a simple job or complex?

Or if anyone knows of a decent car audio specialist in the Essex area, that’d be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

This video might be of interest to you.

I have carried this one out and it does make a noticeable difference.

But there are a number of other videos on Youtube. Just search for "f type speaker upgrade"

Good luck.

I've fitted the premium speakers to the doors and dash but not changed the rear ones. I have the high power surround system. Now I prefer the fader well towards the front and use the stereo setting to eliminate the oversensitive dash speaker. The detail is much improved. However there is more to be had apparently by taking things further with change of amp and even better speakers and sub etc. = expensive.

I have the standard system and have upgraded as per video, ie. Sound deadening added to doors and upgraded the 3 (per side) door speakers to premium ones. It has made a big difference and is well worth doing. It's simple to do if you're handy. The next step would be to upgrade the amp., which, IMO, is a job for an ICE specialist as I understand it requires a fair amount of computer processing of the audio signal to the new amp. Eighteen months after the speaker upgrade, I still haven't felt the need to go the amp route.

Think this is what I’ll be doing.
Seems simple enough.

Do you know what the speaker specs are, as in sizes, fitment etc. as I have no idea what sort of speakers will be compatible for a plug n play swap.

I did this upgrade too. The sound deadening makes all the difference - from boomy and rattly door cards at low volume to acceptable at much higher volumes I'd say. I then upgraded the speakers with those units mentioned bought from a guy who breaks / strips and sells the parts of door units from Range Rovers on EBay, I was surprised how much difference the change of tweeters made as I wasn't initially going to bother with those thinking the woofer would be the problem ... but IMO by far the biggest improvement came from the addition of the sound deadening on the 3 surfaces - door skin, door unit and door card itself. It was easy and quite fun. Enjoy!!

Thanks for this.

Definitely something I'm going to have to do soon.
On the lookout for some speakers too :)
