I wouldn't worry about the button. My V6S has it and I've only used it once or twice. I just engage Dynamic mode when I want the full sound effects

The valves will open around 4000rpm regardless of dynamic mode on or off. Below that, dynamic mode on will keep the valves open at all rpm, you can hear the difference at tickover. All the switch does is allow you to activate the valves below 4000 rpm (but not necessarily from tickover upwards) or close them below 4000 rpm in dynamic mode (so it's not actually a "loud" button). I've hardly ever used my switch, except to hear the difference in the various settings - hardly worth £250 to me!

Not necessarily.
The exhaust valves open at approx 1500 rpm on my car if I press the active exhaust button or select dynamic mode.

My car is a 2015 model (64 plate, Sept 2014) V6 S without the switch.
Yes the valves open by themselves over 4000 rpm. They don’t open at lower revs even in dynamic mode.
I fitted a switchable fuse into slot 23 in the under bonnet fuse box and mounted a small rocker switch under the dash by my left knee. It works great and has not caused any issues. It does register a DTC code when it’s switched (you are effectively ‘blowing’ the fuse when you switch) but no warning lights and the dealer was amused when I told them the cause of the ‘error’
I do have a proper switch to fit, but to be honest I’ve just not got round to taking the centre console apart to see if the wiring is there, and then possibly having to alter the cars ccf to make it work as factory button does.
Switchable fuse is the way to go.

It wasn't the button I was so much worried about but whether the base 2016 F type had the active exhaust system as standard which it appears to according to earlier replies. I can just turn on dynamic mode if I want the valves open more so no button isn't such a big deal

I have faulty exhaust valves on my 2016 3.0 V6 manual and my local garage have just lubricated the valve shafts. I am not convinced this is a long term solution so I asked the garage to contact Jaguar to get authorisation to fit a backbox if their fix does not work. Their answer was it is not covered. DMG say the part number for the box has changed 3 times and the latest is T2R47477 so does anyone know if the changes are due to valve issues. DMG price for exhaust is £1790. I had a brace strut issue and had a great battle with Jaguar to get them fixed under warranty so I am aware of what is to come to get this problem sorted. It would help if I knew there had been mods made to the exhaust

The button only enables the exhaust to be opened and closed independent of the driving mode selection. I find it's useful sometimes, when the road surface is rough, to have the heavier steering with dynamic mode selected and be able to close the exhaust on a long droning journey. Nice but not essential.Mr.Tea wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 7:49 pm
