Following hearing about SAT on a recent post, I was curious to see what else they had. I watched a video on a lovely SVR to note that they do not have engine covers - https://www.sportsandtouring.co.uk/deta ... /#features.

Having purchased a P575, I noted that I do have an engine cover.

Anyone know why the SVR with the same engine requires the cover to be omitted and why overheating isn’t a problem in the P575? Is it something to do with the new styling, larger grille and different position of the bonnet vents that allows the cover to be fitted?

Thanks

SVR's never had engine covers. I presumed to save a little weight but others suggest to prevent heat soak after racing and then it sitting still.

It’s not exactly the prettiest engine to look at, and I can’t answer your specific question, but for the drier weather mine’s always in the garage - it joins the wind deflector that just spoils the look of the convertible and has been in the garage from day one.

But a heat reflective pad is fitted on the bonnet to protect the paint.

I saw somewhere that it was possible to add the engine cover as an option on the SVR but by default it came without one, just like the Project 7 and Project 8.

IMHO it's just an unnecessary part which just adds to the heat soak of these already very hot running engines. I think its main purpose is sound insulation and possibly some water protection especially on RWD cars.

Mine also lives in the garage and only goes on if I will wash the car, plan to drive in very cold temperatures or if there's a risk that the car will be driven or parked in rain or snow. I've used this approach for years now, also with the XF with the same engine that I had prior to the F-Type.

Hello,

I also removed the engine cover from my F-Type R V8.
There is some information on the internet about how the heat can be better dissipated without a cover and is good for the engine.

As already written, you should look at how the rainwater drains through the air outlets on the hood.
