Anyone selling up that wants rid of an F Type specific personalised reg?
Looking to purchase one shortly, there are a couple of good options for £250 on DVLA. Can’t believe what some people think their ‘special’ plate is worth!

Thanks mono, really good link! Some decent plates for reasonable prices.
I’ve bought one via DVLA, the key for me was finding something that didn’t need dodgy spacing to make it work!

I followed the DVLA auctions for a bit and tried bidding on a few. The price indications were way off and it seemed like number plate dealers were paying way over the odds. Either to sit on the plates or to force prices up stopping DVLA from undercutting them.
Although I did see one or two, quite good ones, that sneaked through occasionally going for near the indicated price. Worth a try.

Not sure I get the point of a car specific plate, unless you plan to keep the car forever and a day. Reality is all cars are sold at some point then the plate is near worthless to the current owner and limited after market.
Don't get me wrong - I have several personal 5 digit plates of which my longest standing has now been in the household for 24 years and on 5 cars. Most recent 9 years and 3 cars.

True. It's often better value to just get your initials on a pre 1963 plate. Anything with say JAG on it tends to cost. On the end I wecj10jeeper wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 11:02 am Not sure I get the point of a car specific plate, unless you plan to keep the car forever and a day.

In the end I went for a plate with SVR as the last 3 letters at £299 including the DVLA transfer fee. Saw a Jag with J300GRR on it this morning, which would also have been a cheapie.

each to their own, if you can afford an F Type you probably afford a £250 plate with SVR, or JAG if you can find one - after all it's only the cost of a couple of full tanks of petrol!
